Some 3 years back during my usual walks in the colony, I broke a branch of the tree whose flowers I loved… nurtured it for 3 years and it teased me by alternating between being healthy and looking dull at times…

When all its friends were flowering so beautifully, this one refused to reciprocate my love by flowering… 😦

And then last week when I went back to my old house to get the cleaning done… it welcomed me by its bloom… a lovely white pepping from the leaves and I stood there for 5 minutes staring hard… persistence does pay off πŸ˜€

Bolo doesn’t it take your heart away πŸ™‚

The thing I miss the most about my previous house is the garden beyond a doubt (ok D if u are reading this, it doesnt mean I dont miss u… I miss u ok πŸ˜‰ )

I miss waking upto the chirping birds

I miss waking upto the sight of bougainvillea in my backyard

I miss the aroma of growing mint and curry leaves

I miss the overpowering smell of night queen and just standing at the gate to enjoy the same

I love plucking some fresh green chillies to throw in my food

I miss my happiness spreading elements, my flowers, the ones that are soft as a petal and the ones that are bleeding hearts

I miss the roses that were finally starting to bloom

I miss the rainy days when all we do is have fun in the garden

I miss my morning cup of tea in the balcony with lots of greenery around…

Ok u get it, I miss my garden a lot πŸ™‚

So when today morning I woke up to see the first blooms of this house in small tiny pots, I was delighted

So here’s presenting to u, the first bloom of this house πŸ˜€

Small but its a start anyways…

backyard, garden, gardening, kitchen garden, kitchen gardening, organic vegetables, vegetables

In this world which is fast becoming a concrete jungle I consider myself very very lucky that I have a place where I can manage a garden… some flowers that I showed u here (I have some more snaps of them, coming up soon) and to top it all my all time dream to experiment with organic farming ok well no farming… making a organic backyard is coming true…

Lately I have been growing a lot of stuff in my small kitchen garden and now I am going to do what comes best to a blogger… he he show off the pics here… πŸ˜€ so let me take you for a virtual tour of my backyard…

karela aka bitter gourd

anar… i also had a papaya tree which died 😦

chillies… and these ones are really fiery ones… N had gone to a friends house in kerala and bought the seeds from there, apparently these are kerala special chillies… little tangy very hot

the normal chillies

ginger…. i love the smell of the leaves and ofcourse the end product

and this is some fresh ginger… plucked minutes ago πŸ™‚

methi….

my plants in a row!!!

dhaniya………….

ajwain plant……..

care for some lady finger…

and what makes me most happy is the fact that I grow them organically… I make compost at home using kitchen waste and Daily Dump, a very easy home composting unit… and for insects I use neem, haldi and u know even cucumber peel help….

Its not a easy job but when after all this hardwork u eat what u grow the taste is out of the world……..

PS: coming up soon are my tomatoes, brinjals, brinjal, cucumber and pumpkin πŸ˜€

and yes if u are wondering about the title this is my first step towards my ultimate dream in life… step up a organic farm………..

bleeding heart, Bounganvillea, flowers, garden, ginger lily, hibiscus, home, rose

Flowers have a beauty that nothing can match, a small tiny bloom in one’s garden can bring so much joy… this post has been lying in drafts from so long now and when I saw Preeti’s post about flowers… I realized its time to upload those snaps and publish the post…

So here it is guys, some blooms from my own garden

the bleeding hearts

DSC05755

DSC05753

the white bunches I dont know what they are call, we brought this plant as a cutting from Coorg and the gardener we had at that time said of its useless… but still asked me to plant because it signfied the plant from the travel (yes we are crazy, everyplace we go we bring a plant back… we even brought a plant back from yelagiri when we went there by bike :D) and now this plant gives us this bunches all through the year

DSC05760

DSC05761

the solitary rose, not by any means the best rose… but i am readlly bad at growing roses.. this is one of the few that have bloomed… such a shame my mom was known for her roses in the whole colony where we used to live before and when we were moving to an apartment where we didnt have the space to keep them, there was a near fight for her rose plants…

DSC05757

the lovely double hibsicus… i have hibsicus in many colors at home, some in two tones.. sadly only this and the standard red is in bloom right now

DSC05762

the red and white Bounganvillea, till about two months back it was covering the whole of my backfence and they used to bloom like crazy…. but then the society wanted to raise the height of the fence and they cut the whole thing… the whole thing, just with the stem left… I was so scared whethere it will come back or not… thankfully it is… I have a yellow one too but thats still to bloom

the ginger lily

dont know their name but again I have them in multiple colors at home

Flowers indeed cheer one up πŸ™‚
