When last week I had seen what will be the theme for this week which is

“CARS” (New, Old, Sedans, Convertibles, Station Wagons, Sports,…)

I had planned a post like Uma’s doing somewhat of a chronicle of the cars we have owned…. But than I went to Lavasa’s Womens Drive (detailed post coming up soon) for Cancer and other women issues. It was so heartwarming to see the cars that women were driving decorated so nicely. Carrying messages for early detection of breast cancer to save the girl child to education for all to save nature to one support inclusion…

And here is a collage of few that I loved

Thursday Challenge : Toys

car, Ojas, thrusday photo challenge, toys

With a child in the house, it surely is not too tough to find a picture for a challenge whose theme is

TOYS (Dolls, Games, Stuffed Animals, Athletic Equipment, Construction Toys, Art Supplies,…)

I was wondering which toy of Ojas to post here and I realised it has to be this one…

Its a race track on which the car keeps running till pulled out much like the train one, but the most intersting thing for me in this toy is that white building kind of structure one sees… its a lift… yeah a lift… So the car comes and enters from the right hand side and when the wheels of the car moving there is a wire just works as a pulley and pulls the platform on which the car is standing and once is reaches the top the car runs on the track and the platform keeps going back down and by the time the car is back at the lift entrance the platform is back at the bottom again…

Quite interesting and innovative isnt it? Ojas loves it, its a different matter all together that we both this on Diwali and the lift is already broken because he wanted to know how it works and sent the car into the lift in all possible ways 😉

Last week we had met up some friends for dinner and the usual topic of cars was started 🙂 but this time with a difference..a friend’s friend’s 3-yr old son can recongnise all car makes seeing the symbol… we were all amused and impressed and then another friend said that in his daughter’s school ABC is taught by cars… as A for Alto, B for Bentley… intersting idea isnt it? And yes he said there are cars starting from all alphabets… So I decided to use my brain a little and see how many could I remember… I have tried to limit myself to car names mostly and use the brand name only rarely

A – Alto/Ambassdor

B – Beetle

C – Cedia (what else :))

D – Dzire

E – Endeavor, Enzo

F – Fiesta

G –Grand Punto

H -Hummer

I -i10/i20/Indica/Indigo/Innova

J – Jetta

K -???

L – Lancer, Land cruiser,

M – Maruti 800, Mazda, Monetro

N -Nano

O – Octavia, Omni

P – Palio, Pajero

Q – Q5, Q7 from Audi

R – Ritz, Reva

S –  Safari, Swift , Scorpio, Spark

T -Tuscan

U -Uno

V -Verna

X – X-Trail, Xylo

Y -???

Z – Zen

I guess most of us love speeding, it gives us a thrill, it is indeed adventurous but dont u think there has to be a limit to everything???

What do u do when people decide to speed in a place where kids are playing, people decide to speed in residential complexes?

Go read here what happened to our sweet Krish yesterday and how the bastard reacted one confronted

I have seen this happening in our complex also, inspite of the fact that there are speed limits out on every street of our layout but still people go and speed…

What Kiran experienced was a close call and thank god krish is fine… But gosh look at the reaction of this moron…

Here he is Mr. Gaurav Chopra, if i would have met u in person I would have probably slapped u hard but because I cant do I give u virtual slap on behalf of all us mothers and fathers….

Like my nephew says “Shame Shame Puppy shame on guarav” actually u are not even worth that. I am ashamed that we have people like u who don’t care about a kid’s life

The Cheetah….

car, personal, picture, review

About 2 years back we had brought an elephant home, an elephant that can sprint and it’s the cheetah now, a cheetah that’s rock steady… we recently bought a Mistubushi Cedia Sports and I was much more impressed by it than I was in the test drive 

The car is a racer… zip zip zip… fastest 0-60 in its segment and one can surely feel it. The torque is so brilliant that u don’t need to worry about changing gears at all most of time and that really helps in blore traffic  though have not taken it to limits as there is a 100km cap on the limits u can take it to… and here are the limits:

1 gear – 20 kmph
2 gear – 60kmph
3 gear – 85 kmph
4 gear – 110kmph
5 gear – 150kmph

Ya ya I can see u all are laughing now as we did when we read it, gosh are these constraints… as if in a city like blore we would ever be able to take it above 110 let alone 150

Couple of things that’s a huge change for us as we have been driving the elephant for quite some time now are the turning radius. U don’t need to think abt that at all now but I guess that would come as package with any sedan….

The other thing that makes cedia brilliant in my point of view is the rock steady suspension…. so soft and so hard at the same time, soft at the small potholes and hard at the bigger one… What a comfort & brilliant ride… we are both dying to take it a for a long drive now

PS: I know its not a great pic, but my son is not keeping too well and hence not able to click more… will post more pics as soon as he gets well

Elephant that can sprint

Its been an year or so since the idea of owning a second means for moving around smacked us hard on the heads. Bullock cart to Arabian horse to bicycle to moped to crusing motorbike to Reva to Swift to Accent/Verna to Scorpio to Innova (of course not to forget serious consideration of transport by LEGS) is the chronology of identification and almost commitment followed by moving on.

This period was marked by intense debates, private struggles, wrestling on fixated ideas of the day/hour/minute, extended test drives, doctorate in technical specifications, surfing discussion groups, madness in all.

The toughest question on the test was when should one invest? Attempts in vain were made to interconnect/individualize a deluge of trivial events to the investment date. Finally there was light at the end of the tunnel. The DREAM of driving from Delhi to Bangalore superseded every other hindrance. Suddenly there was so much clarity in thought and action. The time to commit was derived by back working from the date of start for the Delhi-to-Bangalore-in-2-days driving madness.

Also the requirement of a SUV emerged lucidly. And of course the economic affordability restricted our choice to the Indian SUVs. Scorpio ruled the choice charts for some time but there was always a troublesome doubt on its handling capabilities. Innova with all due respect was relegated to a big car.

The eventual winner was the elephant who could sprint and that too real fast. TATA SAFARI it was! It is hearsay that the pachyderm comes with its set of poor electronics, poor refinement, ok ok interiors, sluggish in pickup, etc. Most of these niggling fears are ignored when one sets eyes in the gaint in the showroom, are further castaway on a test drive and buried on the first day of ownership coupled with a long highway drive.

Huge pot holes some times a meter or 2 in diameter in the road are trampled as they were 2-inch cracks with the speedo always reading 80-100kmph. Of course we hv not pushed it beyond 100 kmph due to the break in period precautions. Speed brakers are crushed like twigs on the road. The giant can be steered with the little finger courtesy a great hydraulic power steering. The braking is instantaneous and a feeling of riding from inside a moving nuclear bunker overpowers one.

So here is our sprinting elephant 🙂

PS: this post is written mainly by my darling husband… so this is dedicated to him…
