I absolutely heart one pot or rather one dish meals… yes I love cooking and there are times when I have made a 5-course meal for many people but there are times when I dont want to do anything and make one item which will be a complete balance meal… pulaos, khichdis, pastas are the usual that come to mind when we talk about one dish meal but what about paranthas? There are so many things we can do to a parantha and come up with a yummy and fully balanced meal in itself.
Couple of weeks back in such a frame of mind… I made this…. it tasted absolutely divine and with a bowl of curd and some salad.. a meal in itself couldnt have been healthier
What I used
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup ragi flour
- 1/2 soya flour
- 1/2 gram flour
- 1 bunch methi leaves pureed
- 1 bunch spinach leaves chopped finely
- 1 small onion chopped finely
- 1 tsp oil for kneading
- 1/2 tsp ajwain
- 1/2 cup curd (sigh how i missed it when i typed it first)
- salt and chilli powder (u can also use green chillies, I avoided because of ojas)
How I made
- Mix together all ingredients and knead to make a soft chapati dough
- Take a ball to make paranthas… roll into a chapathi size and then spread oil on top and roll in it a spiral
- Roll again and u will get enough lachas in the parantha π u can ofcourse make paranthas as u choose π and enjoy a power packed meal
Wheat and ragi provide the cereals, gram flour and soya the pulses and hence the protien… methi and spinach the veggies and that too green veggies… some curd added to the doufh and then a little curd to eat along for dairy products and its as balanced as it can get.
Ok swaram promise this is the last one and then in the weekend I will be quiet no posts π
I add a little bit of paneer too π
aaah there are very less takers of paneer in my house… i do add some curd for dairy
I absolutely love paranthas ! i am a hard core Punjabi that ways. And your photos are so tempting I could eat the page !
ha ha ha i am the same when it comes to paranthas…
Ha ha ha. Nw that I am catching up with u, err in reading and commenting I mean, u cn go onnnn and onnnn π
This looks sooooo yum Mons π I luv the colour that greens impart to any dish π makes me droooool over them π
Agree with u on such meals. After cooking multi-course meals n no. of times on Saturday and Sunday last week, all we wanted on Monday is a one-course meal!!!!
ha ha thanks for the permission dear π π
on ya those are the times when these are most helpful
I make a similar paratha too – but have never tried soya flour. My mom adds it, I just forget to pick it up everytime I go shopping. Will definitely try it out – I love one pot/one dish meals – easy work, you see π
oh I think soya is a wonder food, I keep trying and finding ways to include it the food we eat as none at home eat the granules or the flakes as such
I am drooooling !!
I love such parathas, great for kid’s lunch boxes too ! Never tried this one before, I m so going to make a few of these parathas this weekend and freeze them for the lunch boxes next week. Since I dont have to manually knead the dough, its even simpler for lazy cooks like me who are forever looking for quick and nutritious recipes.
LOL not kneading the dough with hand makes it the best π
Why do you tease me with such delicious pics. I want some NOW!!! Its yummy and super healthy Monu. Well done.
he he come over dear i will make some for u
Oh yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmy!! I loove parathas, and your pics look exceptionally yummy!! Will try it out sometime. Btw, by ‘spiral’, did you mean, roll it like a cylinder?
oh i meant first roll it in a cyclinder and then roll the cylinder togther to make a spiral… got it?

this is slightl diff method but finally the spiral will look like that
thx mon π
Looks good! Shall try it out sometime soon. π
BTW I don’t know how to ‘spiral’ a parantha. π¦ Pliss to enlighten me.
Also, spinach = palak. π¦

Oh, me too love the one-dish meal…more simpler and more yummier !!! π

As Shail suggested, panneer will help for consumption at my place !!! π π
Looks totally yummy, Monu….am thinking of shifting to Blore, somewhere near ur place… π π
