Oh IHM we love you for this brilliant tag…. and it was passed to me by IHM as well as Ritu
She says If you are woman
Have you ever wanted something that is considered ‘manly’ ? Like a basketball, a cell phone, a dog, a camera or a new laptop? A new car or motor bike? Ever wanted to be a pilot? A doctor or not a nurse? And the manliest want of them all – The remote!
As a kid did you enjoy playing with a bat and a ball?
There was a time when books were considered ‘manly’, women authors had to pretend to be men – would you say books are still rather manly – women should want to embroider and crochet?
So here is the list of my sins which have done
- As a school girl I used to play cricket… yes to all who know me now this will be a shocker as I hate the game now (that is actually due to the fact I think its over hyped in India). I along with the help of our PT teacher in school had actually formed a cricket team and I was the captain 😀 played for about 2 yrs
- I have been driving for 14 years now and I love driving. Speed gives me thrills, I love racing.. I love my long drives when I am the one on the steering wheel… I even drive a SUV (Tata Safari) with ease… I have done a Delhi-Blore drive with N and Delhi-Leh is on soon to be accomplished list… My top speeed in India is is 180kmph and for a long time between N and me I had the record of the highest speed of 170kmph , he has it now for 185kmph… must beat him to it soon 🙂 While we are on driving, I love go carting a sport… There was a time when me and N regular on the go-carting track racing against each other 🙂
- I love love love love my books, always will have a book in my handbag, my car, at my bedside table and I never understand why are books considered manly?
- I have done white water rafting, para-sailing, bungee jumping, water skiing, snorkelling and diving 🙂 and rest of the adventure sports are in my bucket list too
- Moved to a new city and lived all by myself renting a flat and totally enjoyed it
- I share and enjoy all kinds of humour specially dirty humour 😉
- I enjoy drinking and have a policy of never say no to beer, so cheers 😉
- Technology like cameras, cell phones, laptops and yeah internet are my area of expertise in the household… anything needs to be done on this is my duty by default
- I have travelled without any male companion and even alone fearlessly at all times of the night…1 am coming back from office to heading back home after partying till 3 in the morning 😉
- Did the eternal sin of speaking my mind out specially being a girl, if I dont like something I voice it
And I still love my chocolates and roses…..
I still can shop at any time of the day for anything and for however long…
I still love cooking and baking
I still love my jewellery
and yes I cry at the drop of a hat and want my man to pamper me 😉
And while we are at it I have to share this something I have wanted to do at one point of time… (though I am glad I didnt do it 😉 )
Remember all those hindi movies in which hero and herione will have an argument with each other saying that they are equal and they would come up with a series of thing that could be done by both and finally always it would boil down to the guy being able to remove his clothes and the girl cant… So there was a time I would wish to be able to do that but guys if u think thats the only thing u can do which we can’t go ahead we dont mind 😉
And though I love my blue jeans I wont want to be stuck to them for next 12 yrs… so here are the 12 bloggers I tag
The men in the list this is what u have to do
Have you ever wanted something that only women are supposed to want – like bags, shoes, clothes, creams, perfumes, babies, flowers? A peaceful home and a happy family? Have you ever been afraid of the dark or of insects?
As a kid did you ever want to play ‘teacher-teacher’, cooking or did you like playing with a doll? Have you ever enjoyed cooking? Bought something in pink? Loved chocolates?
First 😛
yay!!!
Luved it Mons. Yes, we do all that and stil love chocolates and cooking and everything else 😉
yay thats the beauty of the times we are living I guess swaram…
LOL .. I am with u on so many of them. Speed is thrilling indeed 😉
And even I dnt get why reading books is manly 😛
yeah every other thing I can understand but books???
Yay you!
175 kmph? Whoa! Delhi to Blore? Wow!
I bow down to thee! 🙂
thank u thank u 😀
I so need to get over my fear of driving. I love speed, and I think I would love to drive fast too, but I am just so scared. ( I just learnt to drive last year, and I have driven maybe 20 times since then )
😦
yeah aathira its just the intial fear and once u get over it U will realise how much fun it is, how much independence it gives u
Brilliant!!
Oh! I forgot to add in mine – that I have lived and travelled alone as well!! 😀
Will quickly edit my post now!
Loved this tag! you played cricket eh? We used to play with marbles! Cricket – used to watch even back then!
Fave past time would be climb and walk around the high compound wall my granfather had built around his home!! 😀 😀
my mom never allowed me to play with marbles not because she thought its boyish but because she thought its dangerous… and cheap sigh 😦
and climbing walls and trees how much fun
WOW
Mon, that is one helluva list. Seriously, the best I’ve seen so far. And everyone’s been doing this tag
🙂
Masood you too have been tagged! Where’s your post?
Yes, IHM. I’ve been tagged 5 times already!!! Composing my post….
lol so is it done yet? let me hop over and check
I was just on ur blog leaving a message that u have been tagged 😀
and thanks for the compliments…
Wow!! I am so proud to know you Monika!! And I remember your post about driving… on another blog!! 🙂 I also drive an SUV but your 180km/h is amazing.
About men being able to take their clothes off – I feel equality does not mean women need to be like men (or vice versa) – it just means having equal right to justice, freedom, opportunities etc. Men can’t have babies but that not make either men or women less or more equal.
so so so well said IHM… its about eqaul rights and oppurtunities
Nice ones….i think everybody like d.humour..just a question of accepting in public…now u can expect your inbox to be bombardeed with just jokes…
i think now driving at high speed is no more manly thing….it is replaced with – tailgating at 160kms…
yeah i know its more about accepting but the times are changing now
and lol at tailgating 😉
good one..i am impressed!! and i will do it for sure.. i can think of so many things to write.

OH brilliant… I am with you on each one of them whether i have done that or not..but i would love to do so any day. I have played cricket and been the only female on the team..i have played basketball in all boys team – again me being the only female there…i have taken up subjects which were considered total manly and as expected i used to be the only girl there, i am the one who does all electricity work at home 🙂 :),i used to fix everyone’s electric and electronic appliances in hostel 🙂 …there are so so many things that i have done which are usually considered manly.

high five, Monika. I love your list. Specially the speed numbers…My highest is a measly 125 in comparision 😦
aaaah i was stuck there for a long time till we bought the cedia… car makes a different too sweety 🙂
That was so much fun to read, Mons. I forgot about adventiure sports and all the craziest rides! Both husband and I are equally mad about it! Last december, in Vegas, husband did sky diving, but I could not because of lack of time – it took around 5 hours, and have been giving him grief ever since! I so wanted to do it too!
And travelling alone at night – me too! I never felt the need for any companion – male or female. And I do think that if one has the confidence, it keeps trouble makers at bay. They try their luck only when they sense fear.
Loved reading this, Monika!
Oh N did this simulated sky diving in genting but I couldnt do because of my neck and I am still so sad at that 😦
and u said it so well smitha… they sense the fear and than attack so so so true
Awesome list!!! So speed thrills eh Mon? Btw, it is so refreshing to see this new bunch of women who ENJOY being a ‘woman’ while also being equally capable and confident as a man in the corporate world! Kudos!!
Yeah I know what u mean pal… it suddenly feels we are so very eager to expose that part of us which is hidden somwhere and u see very few men seem to be excited abt this tag
Amazing list,MOn! Oh yes I get a major kick out of speed when I drive. You & N have touched 180 +…hats off to you guys!! Phew..I’m yet to reach that mark..have not given up though 😉
Really surprising isnt it how reading is considered ‘manly’? I was aghast when IHM shared that bit. Reading makes me feel really empowered!
You’ve done bungee-jumping and river-rafting?? WOW!! Those two are so in my to-do list.
That was real fun to read this tag,Mon..enjoyed thoroughly 🙂
yeah i am still not able to digest why is reading considered manly? i mean why?
and keep trying deeps… go for it
Isn’t this a great tag! Loved your answers Mon
Oops that was me 😛 Dad’s account was logged in
i figured that 😉 thanks
Monika: Loved your list, specially about the speed 🙂
Oh, and love your new template !!
