Akhil

This and that

He is an orphan
Lives in this Home
Called SOS Children’s Village

My name is Akhil, he said
I live here in home number 7
Do you like this place? I asked
I love it, he said!

He must be around 8 years of age
With energy in abundance
Simplicity and happiness writ large on his face
He collected nectar from those bright orange flowers

I was busy planting trees
And taking pictures of other volunteers
When my camera caught him in a candid shot
He turned around like a deer caught by a flash of light

I showed him the picture
You caught me with that flower in my mouth
He said innocently
His friends came running to catch a glimpse of the picture

It was just a passing moment
I got back to my job of planting trees
And forgot all about it

But now, as I download the pictures
This one caught my attention

I am so glad I took that picture
I have him, his energy, innocence and happiness
All in this frozen shot

I shall keep it
May be on my desktop
For it will help me remember
That happiness is not what you find at the end of a tunnel
It’s what you experience right through the journey
That’ll take you to the end of the tunnel

Most times we are so caught up with I, Me, My problems, My life
Well, let’s spare some time to meet and share a happy moment with an Akhil
Who is right there in front of you, just next to you, all around you…

PS: Wrote in long back and just saw it today while searching for something and decided to post it.

Memories

“Memories behave in a crazy way; they leave you alone when you are in the crowd and when you are alone they stand around you like a crowd.”

How very true isn’t it? I find myself surronded by these ghosts all the time, sometimes they good and generous but at the other times really scary and sad. How does one deal with them? But then should one deal with them? Good or bad they have been a part of our life… and will I not feel very hollow and empty if I don’t have them. My memories are my treasue, my memories are something which I gaurd like a soldier at the front guarding the country. But then ifI love them so much then where do they vanish when I am with others.

Strange isn’t it?

Just a few Ramblings…

Life seems like sea more precisely like a wave to me currently.. u can either be on the top or just go under water… why is that it can’t be a river which flows through and give a lot of happiness to others and peace to oneself…

Why is that extereme sorrow always follows extereme joy… why can’t it be a smooth ride with moderate amounts of joy and sorrow but then again will it really be a life worth enjoying…

Why is that sometimes the same incident will give us happiness and sadness both and we just can’t get to decide how to react

Why is that most of the times we are just getting through life laughing and not understanding what we are laughing on

Why is that people who love u the most will hurt you the most too…

these thoughts and many more have been howering in my mind from some days now… not really sure that what I am writing and what I am thinking are really the same too… but just thought of penning them down..

WHEN???

This and that

I started from home in a very enthusiastic mood, very fresh, very clean… of course the weekend is here is what I was thinking… planning what’ll do and driving my way to office and suddenly someone put a brake at my thoughts, someone woke me up from my clean and tidy world of dreams, someone from the car in the front threw out some garbage – precisely it looked like some breakfast leftover (banana peels and stuff like that) the garbage he threw went and hit a poor biker who in shock as well as lack of visibility for a second just went and hit the divider… and that man didn’t even bother to look back. Don’t people have a heart? Don’t people have a soul a conscious?

All my clean dreams were shattered by an ugly and bloody reality. I took the biker to the nearby doctor and got him bandaged luckily he is not hurt too badly.

But was wondering that when will people get human enough to see the pain that they have caused to others… was wondering when will people get civic enough to think that they are clean when the environment around them is…. WHEN???
